Curt Richardson, founder and CEO, focuses on providing innovative solutions for everyday life. With three decades of experience in manufacturing, Richardson demonstrates the importance of leadership, honesty and hard work. Listening to needs and quickly adapting to changing markets has proven a successful tactic.

Built upon the concept of a rugged box used for storing valuables, the OtterBox drybox line is an ideal solution for any adventure—hiking, biking, diving, camping, fishing, hunting, boating, kayaking, traveling, swimming and more.

OtterBox also expands into the world of technology. Working with leading global handheld manufacturers, wireless carriers and distributors, OtterBox provides optimal protective solutions for iPhones, iPods, PDAs and other smartphones. OtterBox offers unsurpassed protection from drops, scratches and dust as well as some waterproof options. Unlike other cases on the market, OtterBox cases allow for complete user interaction with access to buttons, dials and more.

Richardson’s desire to experiment with new ideas gives customers a dynamic product selection. Additionally, a 100% guarantee emphasizes a company commitment to quality.

As an industry leader, OtterBox takes the idea of a “protective case” to the next level. With product lines that correlate with emerging technologies and valuables, customers can find the ideal solution to fit their needs.

Hi Poncho--Thanks for your comment. First, we recommend keeping the volume around 6 or 7, if it is too high sometimes that dampens the sound quality. Also, another suggestion is when you’re on the phone you can try opening up the charging port. This allows the sound to flow through a bit better depending on your reception and volume level. We don’t recommend altering the case in any way as this will void the warranty. You can also reach our customer service department at customer.service@otterbox.com or 888-695-8820.

I just got the defender case for my blackberry tour 9630 and it seems to really dampen the sound quality making it hard to hear the ppl on the other end of the line. I noticed the white membranes that cover certain ports such as the speaker port. Wondering if those are to be left in place or removed inorder to enhance sound quality? Can't find any instructional video demos online that help me figure this out. Could you provide some assistance?
